Here is my Finnished Short film.

My Magazine Film review

This is my final magazine two page spread film review. This was inspired by many film magazines including Empire, and online reviews such as BBC.

What Inspired Me...

I have created this video in a movie award style to portray what elements inspired me to create my 5 minute film. I explain how the story line of the award winning film Forest Gump and the sound track and filming style of the opening credits of Watchmen inspired me the most.

Film Review Layouts

Now that i have reviwed the content of various film review i can now start to analyse the layouts of these two page magazine reviews. I have studied a Professional film review reviewing the blockbuster hit 'Avatar' and have studied a student made film review 'Suspect' about their own short film to compare the similarities and differences between them both.

Next step.. Writing a film review

Now completeting my poster for my short film, my next task is to produce a film review. i have researched and analysed different film reviews by BBC, Empire magazine and Rolling stones. By doing this i have a well know structure of how a professional film review should be.

Asking the public.

Due to technical faults i was not able to post this onto my blog before the questionnaire results. I released out an questionnaire onto the public of hedingham asking what they thought of my two poster designs. This is what my questionnaire looked like.

In an earlier i post i suggested that i would do a survey of which ones of the two film posters i made did the public most prefer, i have completed this task and the results confirmed that poster 1 was the most popular, therefore i will use poster one for my short film movie poster out of the publics popular demand.

Forest Gump Movie Poster

I have studied a similar films movie poster 'Forrest Gump' and have highlighted what techniques they have used and what i could use in my movie poster.

I have created two unfinished posters for my film, i will create a survey asking the public which picture of the two they prefer best and why. after the survey i will finnish the most popular poster and i will use it as my actual poster for my short film.

The project i have chosen involves the creating of a film poster, i have researched other film posters including other A2 student's.

Considering my film is about a girl growing up through her life, i have reserched that this is a similar storyline to forest gump so i decided to study the films poster aswell.

During my short film I plan to have music playing in the background, and I have chosen to play Bob Dylan's 'Times they are a changing'. I have chosen this particular song as the lyrics relate to my short film idea and that i was inspired my the film 'watchmen' introduction who also used this song. the link underneath is the introduction clip to Watchmen.

Short Story Idea

I have decided that my short film will be based on William Shakespeare's 'Seven ages of man.' This poem is from Shakespeare's 'As you like it' and uin the peom shakesphere explains how life is split up in 7 parts; infancy, school boy, lover, soldier, justice pantaloon and second childishness and I plan to show these steps in my short film. I have stumbled onto a problem relating to the shortage of male actors so I plan to twist the original story to relate to a woman's life and her problems. e.g Instead of the woman being in the army her partner can be the soldier in Afghanistan. This idea relates to the modern problems of the world and of women.

this short film has a great use of lighting to suit the story's tragedy, the use of camera and plot are unique.

The plot is very creative and i love the way it portrays how precious time is, the film is made so the story is played backwards, this is very clever as the main character is represented as greedy and selfish backwards but forwards he is a giving generous man.

My Chosen Project

For my A2 media course i have choosen the following:
 'A short film in its entirety, lasting approximately five minutes, which may be live action or animated or a combination of both, together with a poster of the film and a film magazine review page featuring the film.'
I have chosen this specific option because this relates to the career and/or further education i would like to take in the future.
